Starting This Vacation Thing

It feels weird. Luckily, Christopher Baldwin and Cheyenne are doing a great job on the Girl Genius fill–in story, so I am actually beginning the tortuous process of relaxing. This feels very weird, but I'm sure I'll find things to keep me busy.

I see that Othar Tryggvassen- Gentleman Adventurer, has started his Twitter feed up again. One more thing to pay attention to.  We are also preparing to do a bit of travel. Sometime this month, we will be heading out once again to scenic Australia, on the theory that if we're going to take a vacation, there had better be sun, sand and strong rum drinks involved, and these are in rather short supply on this side of the planet at the moment. Specifically, I told Kaja that I want to lie on a beach and do nothing. She says this will be boring. I am willing to take that chance. I would like to try a little boredom. If I need excitement, I will undertake a quest to meet Yahtzee Croshaw, a sensitive and serious novelist who wrote a story about the world coming to an end because it was covered in carnivorous strawberry jam (http://www.amazon.com/Jam-Yahtzee-Croshaw-ebook/dp/B00A7H2E3W/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1388792085&sr=1-1&keywords=jam+croshaw)

A distressing number of my acquaintances suggest that we try to take a tour of Weta. I point out that this would be like going to Miami and being told "Hey, as long as you're over there", we should try this terrific restaurant in Vancouver, British Columbia. We fully intend to get to New Zeeland someday, honest.

The nominations for the 2014 Hugos are open, and will be until March. These are open to anyone who is a member of the last Worldcon (LonestarCon) or plans on joining this year. The convention will be in London, which is reason enough to go. The nomination information is here (http://www.loncon3.org/2014hugos.php), and I would be remiss if I neglected to mention that Agatha Heterodyne & the Sleeping City by Kaja & Phil Foglio and Cheyenne Wright is eligible in the Best Graphic Story category. Hem hem.
